Know your purpose

Once again, it's been quite awhile since ive blogged. Oct and nov were just fantastic months! I won't say that everyday was an 'UP' day but yet, the nitty gritty of everyday life now seems to have a different meaning to me. hmm. . .

Anyway i felt motivated to blog today because i just came across a friend's blog and she doesnt seem to be in the best emotional state right now. I feel that there must be plenty out there who may be feeling the same way too.

Especially at this time of the year. The feeling of being overwhelmed, tired, rushing to get things done, endless duties at work, endless duties at home, buying last min christmas gifts, pushing your way thrgh the other last min shoppers...
PLUS on top of that, you have the cold because of the crazy weather conditions we're having!

Associate yourself with the above? ;p

If you do, i really do encourage you to read on slightly further. Because i feel that what i've got to say may help you or someone you know who is also feeling the same way.

The 'symtoms' which i mentioned above: the feeling of being stressed up and seeming like a candle being burnt on both ends is a strong emotion that is trying to tell you something.

Personally, i used to call this emotion 'STRESS'. But i've since learnt the power of words. So let's just call it 'Overwhelmed'.
Try saying "Im feeling overwhelmed right now." instead of "Im feeling sooo stressed up."

Feels better? Doesnt tt word make the situation feel a little better alrdy? hahha..

I find it helpful that whenever i feel like the world is throwing things at me all at the same time, i take a step back and look at the situation from the outside.

What the feeling of being Overwhelmed is trying to tell you is that you are expecting too much from yourself within a such short time frame.

1) Create a list of the things you need to complete. (it seriously helps! DO IT!U may have alrdy tons to do, but with this list, i guarantee u tt it WILL help!)
2) Then do a simple priority ranking on that list. What needs to be completed 1st?
3) Delegate. Things can be done by others too! Get people to help u. DOn't get so anal on doing everything yourself! They may not do a perfect job (in yr eyes),but it's better than you being so tied up with everything else that the job doesnt even get done anyway.

I find that the most important thing to remember while you're going through your list is to find out your purpose. Be conscious of what you want to achieve through the activity.
If it's spending time with your family members, then don't end up just watching tv when everyone is together. Communicate. Talk to each other.
Know your purpose. Don't be just activity driven. That will NEVER give u fulfillment even after the job is done! So know the purpose of why you're doing the activity and then do it. U'll feel better that way. Trust me.
Just that little extra effort of coming up with the purpose of doing something before u do it, can have a great impact mentally and physically. Trust me. Been there, done that, love it!

So ya, i sincerely hope that that helped you. Whoever you are reading this,i may not know you personally but if you've bothered to read till here, i sincerely hope you'll take those steps into action. It WILL take a little more time and effort at the start, but u'll feel much better thereafter.

Oh, Christmas is around the corner. So here's wishing everyone a Merry Merry Christmas! May u spend quality time with friends and loved ones! Otherwise, take a good time to plan for 2010! Merry Christmas and have a Brilliant New Year!! (got the feeling tt i may not blog until 2010! hahhaa)

Cheers Everyone!
